Wyatt's opponent in the main event of the show was Quebec's current reigning provincial champion.  The split decision battle was won by Wyatt, giving him a 12 fight winning streak since May 2017.  What a great way to end 2017, too!

Four fights in four days, five standing eight counts on my opponent in the semi finals, and I would be int he finals boxing against Texas for the 2017 Ringside World Championship Belt.  My opponent was a strong boxer but I was able to box hard and fight even harder to bring home the title belt for my second time, first time as an open class boxer. #goingforgold

CDN Boxing Nationals

April 24, 2017

What a great experience!  I had the honour of carrying our provincial flag into the Opening Ceremonies with Norma Marshall, a multiple winning National Champion.  There were nine fighters in my weight class and I drew Ontario for my first bout Wednesday evening.  I won the match with a unanimous 3-0 decision. That brought me to face Canadian Olympian, Arthur Biyarslanov, on Wednesday evening.  Unfortunately, I lost to Arthur in a 3-0 decision.

Sunday morning, I was invited to attend the National Team Selection Process Meeting where Boxing Canada coaches explained how the National Team will be selected.  Team members will be identified in the coming weeks.

The first tournament of 2017 and the first for Wyatt as a Senior Elite Boxer.  Wyatt had a walk-over win Friday night to take him to the SEMI-FINALS on Saturday.  Saturday evening her faced an opponent fro Ontario, winning the fight unanimously and moving onto the FINALS on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon, Wyatt faced Arthur, the current Senior Elite Men's 64kg Champ.  Arthur fought at the Olympics in 2016.  The fight, as one official would state, was a strong technical bout on behalf of both boxers.  Wyatt fought well but lost a unanimous decision  to the champ, coming home with silver.
